A Look at Break The Paradox

By Mike Vanek

Well after my extended holiday break I’m back to bring you more music I think you should know about!! This week's band is BREAK THE PARADOX from the heart of the golden Central Valley of Northern California.

Produced and managed by Central Valley legend Jeremy Brown BTP is a product of GK Music (Manteca CA) Youth Music Program and is the longest-reigning band to work out of the Central Valley music store’s program dedicated to supporting local young musicians. Break The Paradox has a very polished Heavy metal/hard rock sound custom made for active rock radio... With a technically progressive heavy rock sound reminiscent of bands like Shinedown, Evanescence, In This Moment, And other bands of the day it’s very exciting to see what this hungry pack of hungry young musicians is capable of...

Break The Paradox is a cavalcade of beautifully layered music with dueling vocals that leave you absolutely speechless. With Cryptic Vocals, blazing guitars, an ultra-solid bass/drums combination all tied together with keys, cello, and haunting backing vocals, this band delivers the goods in every way with a classical flare... If you are a fan of good solid heavy bands that bring something special to the table then I cannot recommend this band enough!!

I recently got to speak with my good friend and former bandmate who has been mentoring this great young band, Mr. Jeremy Brown. I asked him: You have watched this band from day one... What about this band makes you a believer??? Jeremy answered: What makes Break The Paradox stand out is purely hard work and dedication. I've worked with them since they were in middle school learning their first chords. We all know the ups and downs of being in a band. They've had their share of roadblocks. Countless band member changes, among other obstacles.  The dream was to get into the studio. Not make a demo in a garage somewhere but really go all out and record with a pro producer. Adam Rupell produces top quality work, everyone in the area knows that. So getting the was the dream.  And for a band of teenagers raising thousands of dollars seems like an impossible feat. Sure some kids could have parents that just paid for but when all is said and done I don't think it would have meant that much. They did yard sales, recycled cans, bake sales, and at the last show, they did a massive BBQ feeding hundreds of people. And the parents, everyone is like a big family. The parents couldn't be more supportive during it all. Very rarely do I see a band whose parents and members alike work so hard and love each other so much. It's truly a blessing to be a part of it.  And now, after all these years, all the hard work. It's finally done and they have the perfect lineup. Every bump in the road was worth it to get to where they are now. I also asked him: Can you tell me a little about the GK Music Youth music program and how can young musicians get involved??? To which he answered: GK Music is a music school based out of Manteca, we house about a dozen music teachers and we do student bands. Kids that are interested go on a list, we pair them up with other musicians, coach them, teach them everything they need to be in a band as we practice weekly. And we normally have shown once a month or so. For our advanced bands, we try and record them and make videos. There is really a lot going on, even now. We've put a lot of precautions in place so we've been able to continue doing our thing safely. I started a youtube channel, you can see all our Shennanigans on there. We have VLOG, Behind the scenes, concerts, and music videos. This year since we couldn't do our yearly Christmas musical, we did a Christmas Musical Movie. 16 songs all Trans-Siberian-Orchestra stuff will a few classics are thrown in. It turned out amazing, probably the biggest project I've ever done but it was worth it. The response has been great. It was based on a TSO story so the whole thing was a TSO tribute.

Break the Paradox will release its debut release on 1/15/2021. The band to it along themselves to work hard and persevere over the last year despite COVID-19 to do fundraising, writing, pre-production and at the end of 2020, they entered the studio with local legend producer/musician extraordinaire Adam Ruppel (Systematic Guitarist) and recorded a banger of a record!!
